KARACHI, March 17: A principal of a private technical college was killed by a young man who later surrendered himself to the Orangi Town police on Wednesday.
Police said that Mohammad Aslam, 40, was present in his office of Sir Syed Technical college Orangi Town Sector 11-1/2, when a visitor Zahid Husain came to visit him stabbed Mr Aslam critically.
The suspect Zahid Husain, later went to the police station and surrendered himself to the police. The injured was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said that the suspect had a monetary dispute with the victim.
ROBBED: The brother of the Capital City Police Officer, was robbed of his mobile phone at gunpoint in New Town police limits. Police said that Dr Sohail Malick, the brother of City police chief Asad Ashraf Malick, was intercepted by two men armed with TT pistols near Medicare Hospital.
As Dr Sohail alighted from his car, he was held at gunpoint. The bandits snatched his mobile phone and fled. Dr Sohail reported the matter to his brother - the city police chief and an FIR (59/04) was registered at New Town police station.
KILLED: A decomposed body of a middle-aged man was found from a locked house in Baloch Colony late Tuesday night. Police said that neighbours informed them about a stench emanating from a house, later police came and found the body with hanging marks.
The body was trussed up and victim's mouth was gagged, police added. The body identified as that of Nisar Shah, 40, was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy examination. Police said that victim's wife and children were missing from the house.
ARRESTED: The New Town police on Wednesday arrested a wanted suspect and recovered a stolen car from his possession near Jail Chowrangi. SHO New Town police station, Rahim Shah told Dawn that during snap checking police stopped a car (ADG-379) and detained its occupants Mumtaz Gopal and Ishaq.
On verification, the actual registration number of the vehicle turned out to be (AFG-997) which was snatched at gunpoint from Rashid Minhas Road - on March 4. Upon interrogation police found that suspect Mumtaz Gopal was involved in a Rs 1.8m dacoity in Jackson police limits and was wanted in several other criminal cases.
