HYDERABAD, March 17: The Hyderabad Development Authority will launch an operation in a few days against developers, builders and sponsors who have defaulted on the payment of external development charges of housing schemes.
HDA director-general Ali Ahmad Lund gave the warning at a meeting of the authority officials here on Wednesday, which discussed ways and means to recover the charges.
He told the meeting that a magistrate would be appointed to recover Rs130 million which was outstanding against builders, developers and sponsors of various housing schemes.
According to a report of the director, planning and development control, several construction companies of Qasimabad, Latifabad and City talukas had not cleared their dues under the head of external development charges.
It was decided at the meeting that the Sindh government would be moved to approve the appointment of the magistrate for recovery of the dues. The project director was directed to furnish a detailed report about works of additional development schemes to complete legal formalities.
The meeting also decided to establish a recovery cell at the directorate of audit and accounts to prepare monthly reports about the latest position of recovery.
It asked the DCO, revenue EDO and registration officer to allow deputation of an HDA representative at the registration office to ensure payment of external charges at the time of issuance of no-objection certificates.
The meeting decided that staff members who would excel in the recovery of external development charges would be given cash awards and commendatory certificates.
Those who attended the meeting included directors of technical services, planning and development control and building control, deputy director, audit and accounts, and heads of other departments.
DECLARED SUCCESSFUL: The Controller of Examinations, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, has announced that Mr Abdul Latif, son of Abdul Sattar Qureshi, has fulfilled the requirement for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, and has been declared successful.
