QUETTA, March 17: The Anti-Narcotics Force and Pakistan Customs the other day seized about two tons of drugs from Chaghai and Panjgur and arrested two alleged smugglers.
The drugs seized included morphine and hashish, smuggled into Pakistan from across the border, official sources said. The ANF troops moved into the Shabian area on a tip-off about the dumping of a huge quantity of drugs by Afghan smugglers.
"Troops recovered 950kg of morphine after combing the area," a senior ANF officer said, adding the consignment had to be sent to the Middle East and Europe.
Drug traffickers guarding the consignment escaped when they saw the ANF troops, sources said. In the other raid, the Pakistan Customs recovered 980kg of hashish from a truck parked at a petrol pump in Panjgur.
