KARACHI, March 17: The Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, on Wednesday announced the results of the Oriental Languages Examinations-2003.
A BSE notification said that in all 1,246 candidates appeared in 10 different groups' examinations, out of which 1,050 were declared pass. A maximum of 630 candidates appeared in Adeeb Arabi examinations, out of which 264 were placed in the first division.
The highest passed percentage (100%) was recorded in Alim Farsi examination, followed by Adeeb Arabi (86.67 per cent), Alim Arabi (84.47 per cent) and Fazil Arabi (84.39 per cent). In the Alim Farsi course only two candidates were registered for examination.
Mohammad Arif, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Ashraf Khan grabbed the first, second and third positions, respectively, in the Adeeb Urdu examination, while the first three positions in the Alim Urdu examinations were secured by Rana Ahmad Zahoor, Mohammad Saleem Khan and Syed Nisar Hussain Rizvi, respectively, whereas Mohammad Haider, Mohammad Yousuf and Syed Abid Ali were declared first, second and third position holders in the Fazil Urdu examination.
The other position holders are: Adeeb Arabi are: 1st - Mohammad Afzal, 2nd - Tanver Hussain and 3rd - Fazal Mehmood.
Alim Arabi: Ist - Hafiz Mohammad Rehan Khan, 2nd - Mohammad Jameel, 3rd - Mohammad Shafiq.
Alim Farsi: Ist - Azizur Rehman Saifi, 2nd - Gul Naif Zaki.
Registration: The University of Karachi on Wednesday notified that the fresh registration forms and fees of BA/BCom/BOL and BSc (improvement of division annual examination 2004) would be accepted from March 18 to April 26 with normal fee of Rs1,250, adds PPI.
The forms could be submitted from April 27 up to May 6 with a late fee of Rs100, up to May 14 with a late fee of Rs200, up to May 21 with late fee of Rs300, up to June 8 with late fee of Rs400 and up to June 14 with late fee of Rs500.
A notification said that change of subject would be allowed till June 14 on payment of Rs400. The forms would be endorsed by Registration (External) Unit, Examinations Counter at Silver Jubilee Gate No. 1 before submission at a NBP/UBL counter with the prescribed fee.
Exam forms: The University of Karachi on Wednesday announced that exam forms for BEd supplementary examination 2003 (morning and evening) would be accepted from March 18 to 31 with a fee of Rs1,200. Principals of all affiliated colleges have been requested to send the forms as per the admission list/record of the college.
Seminar: Due attention will have to be paid to women's problems if grievances of the entire population are to be resolved. This was stated by Prof Fateh Muhammad Barfat at a workshop at Karachi University on Wednesday. The two-day workshop, organized by the Department of Sociology and Criminology in collaboration with the Population Welfare Training Institute is being attended by about 100 students of sociology.
Prof Barfat said women education was essential for development of the folk. Dean Faculty of Arts Prof Abuzar Wajidi said that the problems confronting the country could not be resolved unless the population problem is resolved. Professors Feroz Hayat Khan and Ra'ana Saba were among others who spoke at the workshop. -PPI
