KARACHI: Schools to be set up for LEW shiftees


KARACHI, March 16: The city government has entered into an agreement with the Citizens' Foundation, an NGO, which will set up schools at three locations, Hawksbay, Taisar Town and Baldia Town, of the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project.

The agreement-signing ceremony was held at the CDGK's Secretariat at Civic Centre. The city government was represented by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and LEW Resettlement Project's Director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha.

Ateed Riaz, Ahsan M Saleem, and Col Qaisar Rizvi, represented the foundation. Under the agreement, city government has provided land for the proposed schools, while the foundation will provide buildings, teachers, furniture and other staff.

Three schools will be set up in Hawksbay in the first phase of the project, under the agreement, and work on these will start immediately. The city government is contacting philanthropic organizations for providing best-possible health and educational facilities to the shiftees of the LEW Resettlement project.

The city government had invited applications through newspaper for construction of schools on Built-Operate-Transfer basis. -APP
