SAHIWAL March 14: Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali has announced a Rs50 million package for Sahiwal and assured another special package for the purpose of electricity in the next fiscal budget.

The prime minister made this announcement while speaking at the Horse and Cattle Show organized by the district government here on Sunday on the occasion of Jashn-i-Baharan.

He said such festivals played a significant role in narrowing the gap between rural and urban societies. Jamali said that he would extend his all out help for the establishment of a recreational park for children in Sahiwal.

For the provision of gas in certain city areas, the prime minister said he would study its feasibility and consult Federal Minister for Natural Resources Nauraiz Shakoor, who also represents Sahiwal in the national assembly.

Referring to the demand for the construction of an underpass in Chichawatni, he assured that he would make frantic efforts for the residents of the area. The prime minister also issued on the spot directives for establishing an Export Processing Zone in Sahiwal, which he said would go a long way in opening new vistas of boosting trade activities in the area.

He also announced upgradation of the DHQ Hospital which would provide better treatment facilities to the rural people. Sahiwal, with five seats in the Punjab assembly and three in the Upper House, was giving a festive look as huge crowd from the nearby areas flocked the site to witness the show. -APP
