SUKKUR: Minister accused of occupying plot

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, March 14: The president, People's Party Parliamentarians Minority Wing, Sukkur, Eshwar Lal, has accused a federal minister, his son and son-in-law of encroaching upon a plot of the Hindu Panchayat.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Mr Lal, alleged that the minister, his son and son-in-law had not only encroached upon the plot situated on the Minara Road but also a 12-foot-wide street.

The PPP leader, who is also the president of the Sukkur Hindu Panchayat and a member of the district council, said he had informed the district government of the matter but to no avail.

Mr Lal said when the accused were taking over possession of the plot, he with other Hindu Panchayat members tried to stop them. He alleged that the accused manhandled their people and also snatched papers of the property, including receipts of the deposited rent, from them.

He said the C-section police were present on the occasion but they supported the encroaching party. He said on Jan 20, 1971, the plot had been allotted to the Panchayat which had deposited its rent up to the year 2,005 in advance at the National Bank.

He appealed to the president, prime minister, Sindh chief minister and governor to intervene in the matter and provide justice to the minority community.
