Donors want sustainability of reforms: minister

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 13: International funding agencies and bilateral donors want sustainability of reforms and improvement in the human development indicators, says Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Talking to Dawn here on Saturday, he said: "We have to increase growth and accelerate infrastructure development so that the government could spend enhanced financial resources for health and education."

He said the international donors and bilateral creditors were satisfied with the pace of reforms in Pakistan and were increasing their financial assistance.

He pointed out that focus of the three-day meeting of the Pakistan Development Forum (PDF), starting from March 17, was to discuss and propose recommendations for further improving the economy.

Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali will inaugurate the PDF meeting and President Pervez Musharraf will chair the concluding session.
