KARACHI, March 13: Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad said on Saturday that the discipline demonstrated by people during the one-day international between Pakistan and India was unprecedented.

Addressing a press conference at the Governor's House after the match, he said that all the spectators fully enjoyed the exciting match because of the exemplary discipline and order witnessed in and around the stadium.

He said that Karachiites' manners, discipline and hospitality might have dispelled any wrong or bad impression about the city and its inhabitants as well as those of the entire province. People of Karachi now rightfully feel that a test match between the two teams should also be scheduled here.

It was a test for the city administration and provincial government both of whom emerged successful. This event, he added, was not just a step forward, but a catalyst in the ongoing peace process involving Pakistan and India.

DG Rangers Javed Zia and IGP Syed Kamal Shah, paying tributes to the citizens, said they really acted in a civilized and responsible manner.

Mr Shah specifically referred the remarks by his Indian counterpart in the VIP Security Division Yashorwardhan Azad, who visited the command and control room of the police at the National Stadium, that "this visit has dispelled many apprehensions about Karachi."

DCO Mir Hussain Ali said about the peaceful hosting of the match as 'victory of the citizens of Karachi'.
