KARACHI: Health units, dispensaries to be activated


KARACHI, March 13: Concrete steps are being taken for the provision of basic facilities at the health centres and for their upgrade. This was stated by the Sindh chief minister's advisor on Health, Noman Saigol.

An official statement on Saturday said that in order to activate all the health centres and dispensaries across the province, Mr Saigol, on the directives of Sindh governor, had started undertaking special visits to these centres.

Mr Saigol visited various basic health units in Kemari Town, besides the Shershah Basic Health unit.

On the occasion, he issued directive that all the basic health units, health centres and government dispensaries be activated and special steps be taken for the provision of health facilities there.

The adviser also visited the under-construction dispensaries in the Lyari Re-settlement Project at Hawkesbay, and directed that these be completed at the earliest, so that the people be provided health facilities.

He also visited the Haji Ahmed Brohi Basic Health Unit, Lalbakar Dispensary Abdul Rehman Goth at Hawkesbay, besides a dispensary at Mauripur Village.

Mr Saigol directed that staff be provided where there was such a shortage and action be initiated against the absent staffers.

He also visited the Hawkesbay Emergency Centre for Aid and Rescue Services and directed that lifeguard vehicle and protective dresses be made available there.

Regarding the shortage of lifeguards, he said that the health department would appoint guards on contract basis, so that in case of need the people get prompt assistance.-APP
