NTC hearing on detergent powders

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 13: The National Tariff Commission (NTC) will hold a public hearing in its office on March 27 on a request from the industry producing detergent powders for tariff protection against imported intermediate materials.

According to NTC statement, the industry has complained about zero duty differential between Sulphonic Acid, an intermediate product, and the primary raw materials. In both cases, 10 per cent customs duty has been levied.

The industry has, therefore, requested a reduction in the customs duty on primary raw materials from the present level of 10pc to zero so as to provide a duty differential of 10pc between intermediary product and basic raw materials.

The Commission, while scheduling a public hearing, has invited the views and suggestions from all parties having an interest in the business relating to or associated with the finished products or inputs of the detergent industry. Such views may be sent to the Secretary, NTC, within 10 days.

The public hearing will start at 11 am in the Conference Room of NTC, 11th Floor, State Life Building No. 5, Blue Area, Islamabad.
