Musharraf, Jamali slam Spain blasts

ISLAMABAD, March 11: President General Pervez Musharraf has condemned the explosions in Madrid trains on Thursday. "I was shocked on hearing about the explosions in three trains in Madrid today in which there had been a large number of casualties," he said in a message sent to Spain's King Juan Carlos-I.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the crime committed by terrorists and is confident that those responsible for this despicable act of terrorism would be brought to justice soon," he said. "On behalf of the government and the people of Pakistan as well as on my own behalf, I extend heartfelt condolences to the government and the people of Spain and to the bereaved families."

JAMALI: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, in a separate message to Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, also sent his condolences. "Pakistan strongly condemns this heinous terrorist crime and sincerely hopes that its perpetrators would be apprehended soon and awarded exemplary punishment," he said in a message. "Our heart goes out to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones," he added. -APP
