KARACHI: Elaborate traffic plan made for tomorrow
KARACHI, March 11: City traffic police have made special arrangements to facilitate the people who will visit National Stadium to watch first one-day cricket match between Pakistan and India on March 13.
In order to facilitate the spectators going to different enclosures in the stadium, the traffic police have made parking arrangements at the China Ground at Sir Shah Suleman Road, at parking ground near under-construction Army Housing Scheme, near National Coaching Ground and at the Expo Centre.
The entry into the Expo Centre will be only from University Road side, while free shuttle service will be operated from Expo Centre to the stadium and back to the centre for the people. The parking lot "A" inside the stadium will allow the vehicles of foreign guests, law enforcing agencies and media people.
In order to enter the Hanif Mohammed, Special Children, Waseem Akram, Asif Iqbal, Waqar Hasan, Waseem Bari, Mohammed Brothers and Iqbal Qasim enclosures, the people have been advised to park their vehicles at the China ground and the National Coaching Centre, which are situated close to these enclosures.
Similarly, for Javed Miandad, Fazal Mahmood, Zahir Abbas, Imran Khan, Majid Khan, Intekhab Alam and Nasimul Ghani enclosures, vehicles be parked at the ground near the Army Welfare Housing scheme.
The authorities have fixed a parking fee of Rs10 for cars and Rs5 for motorcycles. All the spectators have been informed that besides specified grounds, parking around the stadium will be strictly prohibited and the vehicles violating the directive will be lifted with imposition of fine.
According to the traffic police, all roads leading to the stadium will be closed for general traffic at 7am till the end of the match and only the people having match tickets will be allowed to go to stadium. The people without tickets would not be allowed to go beyond the diversion points, it added.
DIVERSION POINTS: Traffic will be allowed at Stadium Road up to Aga Khan Hospital, while it will not be allowed to move beyond the PSO petrol pump. The road from Hasan Square to the stadium will remain closed for all traffic. However, traffic will continue to move at University Road without any interruption.
Entry of all buses, mini-buses and heavy traffic from Karsaz Traffic signal to Habib Ebrahim Rahmatoola Road will not be allowed. However, cars, motorcycles, rickshaw, taxi and other vehicles will be allowed to move up to the crossing of Amir Khusro Road, but will not be allowed beyond the crossing.
Traffic will not be allowed on road coming from the Dalmia Cement Factory to the stadium. Entry of all vehicles from KDA Chowrangi, behind the stadium will not be allowed. -APP
