S. Africa denied victory

NAPIER, March 7: The tour match between South Africa and Central Districts ended in a tense draw on Sunday. Central were set 272 to win in 50 overs after South Africa declared their second innings at 224 for seven and the home side ended the day on 195 for eight , with fielders crowded around the bat of tail-ender Michael Mason.

After a slow start, a whirlwind 35 off 18 deliveries by promising batsman Ross Taylor - including 24 off Albie Morkel's fourth over - ignited the Central innings.
