PPP CEC meets in Islamabad on 10th
Bureau Report
PESHAWAR, March 6: The Pakistan People's Party has convened a meeting of its central executive committee and all the 10 MPAs from the NWFP on March 10 in Islamabad
to discuss the situation arising out of a ban imposed by some local political parties on women voters in both districts of Dir.
The PPP and Awami National Party's district branches in Upper and Lower Dir had signed an agreement with some right-wing parties on March 2 to restrain their women voters from casting votes in the local bodies by-elections on March 20 and 28, respectively.
Talking to Dawn, the PPP parliamentary leader in the NWFP Assembly, Abdul Akbar Khan, said the CEC would also discuss the prevailing political situation in the country. He forcefully denied that his party was against the participation of women in the local bodies by-elections.
