KARACHI: Toddler crushed to death

KARACHI, March 6: A toddler girl was crushed to death by a dumping truck in Bhitai Colony on Saturday morning. Witnesses said one-and-a-half years old Sania, daughter of Aijaz, was playing in a narrow street of Sector-F around 9.30am when the dumper crushed her and sped away.

Protesting over the incident, residents said these dumping trucks emptied their contents in open plots and rushed through the streets without caring for the children.

SUICIDE: A teenage girl committed suicide at her home in Rizvia Society on Saturday.

Police said that Faiza, 16, was admonished by her parents on some domestic matter. In a fit of depression, Faiza consumed a heavy dose of some poisonous stuff. She was taken to a hospital, where she died. After conduction the postmortem, her body was handed over to her family.

The police believed the death as a suicide and closed the investigation.

ACCIDENT: An elderly man died after being hit by a vehicle in Nazimabad on Saturday.

Police said that Luqman Ahmed, 65, was crossing the road near Subhan Bakery in Nazimabad No.2 when a vehicle knocked him down. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

The victim, a resident of Orangi Town, has left behind six children.
