GUJRANWALA, March 5: The Sabzi Mandi police on Friday registered a case against six people, including a doctor, who allegedly removed and sold kidneys of jobless youths in different hospitals in Lahore.
The police arrested one of the culprits, Saifullah, on the report of Nazar Muhammad of Khiali Shahpur, father of a victim, Saquib. The culprits had kidnapped Saquib from Gujranwala on Jan 20. They took him to Lahore where he was operated upon in a hospital. His kidney was removed and then sold for Rs150,000.
The accused are said to have disposed of 10 kidneys in different hospitals in Lahore so far at Rs150,000 apiece. Nazar said the accused had brought most of the youths to Lahore on the pretext of providing them with suitable jobs.
The arrested man told police that a Lahore-based doctor, Faisal, was also involved in this heinous crime. He identified his other accomplices as Hafiz Ajmal Baloch of Bahawalpur, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Siddique and Muhammad Ijaz of Gujranwala.
