LAHORE, March 5: Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said here on Friday that the government would set up investigation centres in all big cities of the province besides establishing a separate hospital for policemen.
He was reviewing the performance of police and prisons, information technology and local government departments here. The chief minister said the project of introducing police patrols on highways would be completed on schedule.
The government was also working on another project of constructing police stations and providing the latest equipment there. He said scanners, metal detectors and hidden cameras had been installed in all prisons.
He said more jails were being constructed and the ones in Toba Tek Singh and Vehari would be completed by June. Construction of jails would start soon in Pakpattan, Okara and Bhakkar.
The chief minister said it had been decided to set up an information technology university to improve the standard of education and organize the curriculum system.
He said the provincial government was annually spending Rs4 billion under Tameer-i-Punjab Programme. The funds were being utilized to construct farm-to-market roads and electrify villages.
He ordered that attention should also be paid to the repair of existing roads. He also directed the officials concerned to launch a vaccination campaign for all government employees.
