Ashura being observed today

ISLAMABAD, March 1: Youm-i-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram, will be observed with reverence and religious solemnity throughout the country and Azad Kashmir on Tuesday.

Tazia, Alam and Zuljinah processions will be taken out in all cities and towns. After passing through their traditional routes, the processions will terminate at main Imambargahs.

Zakirs, naatkhwans and religious scholars will highlight the significance of the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who laid down their lives for supremacy of justice and righteousness.

Radio Pakistan and PTV will broadcast special programmes and newspapers will publish supplements on the occasion.

Water, juice and milk stalls will be set up in contrast to the situation of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who were denied water by their enemies.

Sham-i-Ghariban majalis will be held at which the faithful will express grief at the treatment meted out to Imam Hussain (RA) and his near and dear ones.

Thousands of police personnel, army troops and members of elite forces will patrol cities and remain deployed at Imambargahs and mosques.-APP
