Warah tense as AT leader escapes bid on life

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, March 1: The situation grew tense in Warah after a leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement allegedly shot at an Awami Tehrik leader here on Monday night.

Awami Tehrik leader Sartaj Chandio signalled a car near his house to stop. As soon as the car stopped, MQM leader Abdul Karim Sodhar sitting inside shot at Chandio but the latter escaped unhurt.

Later, Chandio caught hold of Sodhar and telephoned police. A police team arrived at the scene and took Sodhar in protective custody as a large number of political activists encircled the police station, demanding registration of an FIR against the MQM leader. A heavy contingent of police rushed to the town from Larkana to avert any untoward incident.

FIR: Police here on Monday registered a case of murder of schoolteacher Rasheed Ahmed Lolaee against five men.

Abdul Rasool, the father of the killed man, nominated Bagh Ali, Amb, Balam, Maqsood Ahmed and Nadir in the FIR. The police has so far made no arrest. Mr Lolaee was shot dead in Nazar Muhalla here on Sunday.
