KARACHI: Nazim visits Jaffar Tayyar Society
KARACHI, March 1: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and DG Rangers, Sindh, Major General Javed Zia on an invitation visited Jaffar Tayyar Society Union Council on Monday.
The nazim and DG Rangers, in their separate visits, inspected the arrangements made for sewerage, lighting and cleanliness on roads during Muharram.
They also visited the union council administration and the medical camp set up for area people. They appreciated the efforts made by the UC administration. Union Council Nazim Jafarul Hasan and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Security Measures: Sindh Minister for Religious Affairs Dr Irfan Gul Magsi along with Sindh IG Police Syed Kamal Shah, on Monday, paid visits to various localities to review the security arrangements made by police for Muharram.
They particularly inspected security arrangements on routes of mourning processions and gave necessary directives to DIG Operations and DIG Traffic in this regard.
Earlier, the minister visited control rooms established at the offices of CCPO and DIG Operations. The DIG briefed the minister about security arrangements with the help of chart and maps.
Sindh IG Police also inquired about the problems possibly faced by police personnel deployed on security duties. He directed DIG Operations to ask TPOs for personally taking care of needs of these personnel.
It is worth mentioning that on directive of the IGP, security arrangements are made in the city under supervision of CCPO Asad Ashraf Malik. In addition to the deployment of additional contingent, police have also installed close circuit cameras and made arrangements for aerial monitoring.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakkal Kazi has directed the officials concerned to be on high alert for ensuring security of mosques, Imambargahs, Karachi Press Club, offices of media organizations and along routes of mourning processions.
He issued these directives while visiting various areas of the city on Monday evening. The chief secretary also ordered for security of water distribution centres, electricity stations and water pumping stations. -PPI
