ISLAMABAD, Feb 29: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to strengthen and upgrade the existing facilities at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.

A press release issued by the HEC said that the departmental development working party of the commission in a recent meeting had approved the project, costing about Rs30 million. Dr M. Akram Sheikh, the executive director of the HEC, presided over the meeting.

Through implementation of the project, the number of enrolled students would be extended from 1,300 to 3,000. This would be a result of the enhanced capacity for high quality and would help cope with the critical shortage of quantity.

The project aims at providing modern teaching and research aid facilities to faculty and students as well as providing boarding facilities to the additional 110 students.

The existing library, transport and other facilities at the institute will also be strengthened. The IBA offers a four years' bachelor, honours and two years' masters degree programmes.
