WB team in RY Khan

RAHIM YAR KHAN, Feb 28: The Washington-based World Bank officials visited Rahim Yar Khan district on the invitation of District Nazim Ahmad Mahmood and MNA Jahangir Tareen.

The delegation, comprisingAijaz Nabi, Shahid Kardar, consultant Khalid Ikram and senior economist Salman Zaidi, visited basic health units functioning under the supervision of the Punjab Rural Support Programme.

The delegation paid visit to BHUs of Khairpur Khadali, Adam Wali and Chak 126-NP.

The district Nazim briefed the delegation about the success of BHUs under the PRSP supervision. He also said that Rahim Yar Khan was the only district in Pakistan where BHUs were working under doctors and medicines were provided free-of-cost.

Delegation head Aijaz Nabi said the World Bank would finance on social sector in Pakistan and assured the district Nazim that social welfare projects would be given preference.

He also informed journalists that the World Bank would give suggestions to the Pakistan government to control the 30 percent wastage of water due to its poor management.
