TOBA TEK SINGH: Toba DSP suspended

TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 28: Punjab IGP Syed Masood Shah on Saturday suspended Toba DSP (Headquarters) Malik Sarfraz on various complaints.

An official disclosed that DPO Saad Akhtar Bharwana had apprised IGP during his visit to Toba Tek Singh that the DSP was involved in misappropriation of funds of police lines mess, misbehaviour with the public and absence from Muharram duty.

He also said that an inquiry would also be initiated against the DSP.

CASE: Kamalia police on Saturday registered a case against its SHO Mehr Nasrullah Khan, SI Rafaqat Bajwa and naib muharrar Sarfraz Hussain for illegally arresting a woman and her two daughters and torturing them in police station after unclothing them.

The case has been registered on the orders of the Lahore High Court on a writ petition filed by Manzooran Bibi. The complainant pleaded that she and her daughters were arrested to force them to produce before police her son Munawar Hussain who was wanted by police in the murder case of landlord Mehr Hasan Kathia. No arrest has yet been made.
