RAWALPINDI, Feb 27: Two children were killed in separate road accidents in Islamabad on Friday, police said. Rafakat Mumtaz, 10, was killed after being hit by a truck (NWFP-6572) on Islamabad Highway.

The truck driver identified as Wali Khan was taken into custody and his vehicle impounded by the Sihala police. In the second incident, a 7-year-old girl was run over by a passenger bus near Nilor factory.

The police said Azra was crossing a road when a speeding bus (LSE-2129) coming from Rawalpindi knocked her down. The girl's body was handed over to her parents, while the bus driver was arrested by the Barakahu police.

Meanwhile, three cars were stolen from Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the police said. Mohammad Altaf told the Margalla police that some thieves had stolen an official double-cabin van (IDF-8240) from the parking-lot of PTCL exchange. Similarly, Abdul Qayum's Suzuki Mehran car (IDM-6010) was stolen from the Secretariat police area. Iftikhar Sheikh told the New Town police that his car (IDN- 7539) was stolen outside the ladies park, Satellite Town.
