PESHAWAR, Feb 26: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani on Wednesday formed a committee to review the legal aspects of the Hasba bill and its status.

In a meeting at the Frontier House, the chief minister directed the sub-committee to come up with clear and final recommendations within four days to set the course for the approval of the bill in accordance with the constitutional provisions.

He agreed to the suggestions that a democratic process should be adopted in this respect. He said the bill was one of the basic requirements for the enforcement of Shariat in the province.

He said people had given a mandate to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal for the enforcement of Islamic laws. He said steps would be taken to keep the promises with the voters within the limits of the provincial government's powers and the democratic procedure.
