DADU: FIRs against DPO to be filed: PPP - 'Deaths caused by police torture'

By Our Correspondent

DADU, Feb 26: People's Party Parliamentarian MNA Rafiq Ahmed Jamali has said that murder cases will be filed against the DPO for the deaths of three alleged victims of police torture.

He was referring to the deaths of Khadim Janwari of Mehar taluka, Toohal Korai of the Khairpur Nathan Shah area and Ghulam Hyder Babbur of Johi taluka who wee killed in three separate incidents during the last six months.

Mr Jamali alleged at a press conference here on Thursday that operation DPO Ali Akbar Bhangwar had directed the SHOs to register fabricated FIRs of sedition and criminal charges against him (the MNA) to bar him from contesting next general elections.

He claimed that the DPO had also sought permission from the National Assembly speaker to arrest him and added that at the instigation of their political rivals, the DPO was harassing him and other PPP leaders.

He threatened if the DPO did not stop harassing the PPP leaders and innocent people of the area, they would launch a protest movement against him after Muharram 10.

He said that the district and sessions judge had directed the Dadu SHO to register a case of the murder of Mr Babbur against four police officials. However, he added, when the relatives of the victims went to the police station to lodge the FIR, they were arrested in a fake case.

When contacted, the DPO denied the charges, saying that neither he had written to the SHOs to register FIRs against the MNA nor to the NA speaker for seeking permission for his arrest.
