KARACHI: Judgments in donation cases reserved

KARACHI, Feb 25: An anti-terrorism court, on Wednesday, reserved the judgments in two donation collection cases against six workers of the banned Khuddamul Islam.

Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of the ATC-V fixed Feb 27 for the pronouncement of judgments after hearing the final arguments from special public prosecutor Mazhar Qayyum and defence attorney Nihal Hashmi.

The activists of the banned outfit - Syed Khalid Raza, Abdus Salam and Shakirullah - were arrested on Nov 22, 2003 in front of Masjid-i-Quba in Block-7 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, where they were collecting donations from passers-by.

According to prosecution, police seized Rs2,500, a banner and two receipt books from the activists. The second case was registered against - Farrukh Nafees, Suleman Khan and Nauman - who were arrested in front of Siddiq-i-Akbar mosque in Block-7 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal. They were allegedly collecting donations from passers-by.

It was alleged that Farrukh Nasim, carrying a receipt book, was collecting money from the people and the two others were holding a banner. Besides, the police seized Rs1,500 from the accused.
