HYDERABAD, Feb 25: The Elementary College Teachers' Association has demanded that education authorities should circulate minutes of a Selection Board Committee meeting regarding vacant posts of associate professors and principals and issue promotion orders to end unrest among teachers.

In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, Prof Haroon Leghari, Pyaro Khan Saharan, Afzal Ahmad, Abdul Qadir Soomro and other association leaders said promotion cases of elementary college teachers had been pending with the education department for the last one year.

They said 15 per cent of the teachers had retired during this period and 20 per cent were near retirement. They appealed to the Sindh education minister, chief secretary and the education secretary to immediately resolve the problems of the teachers.
