SIALKOT: Dacoit dies in hospital

SIALKOT, Feb 24: A dacoit succumbed to his injuries while the condition of his accomplice was stated to be critical at the DHQ Hospital on Tuesday. The two were overpowered and thrashed by the residents of Fazalpura-Muradpur on Monday night. The dacoits had stormed into the house of Syed Muhammad and held up the family.

They also injured Syed Muhammad and his son Asim on resistance. Neighbours came to the rescue when the family raised alarm, overpowered and beat up the dacoits till they fell unconscious. Muradpur police took the dacoits to hospital where one of them died.

ROAD ACCIDENT: As many as 45 people were injured in a road accident on Badiana-Sialkot Road on Tuesday. The driver of a speeding and overloaded bus (No PRT 1465) lost control over the steering when its tie-rod broke down. The vehicle overturned and fell into a ravine after hitting some roadside trees near Moosapur-Badiana village of Pasrur tehsil.

As a result, all passengers of the bus were injured. The condition of most injured was stated to be critical at the Pasrur THQ Hospital.

CASE AGAINST SHO: A case has been have registered by Rangpura police against the SHO of Phalora police, Inspector Arif Mahmood Khan, for torturing trader Najamul Hasan and keeping him in illegal detention, about one-and-a-half month ago. The SHO, however, has not been arrested.
