KARACHI: Woman's body found; man dies in accident

KARACHI, Feb 24: A trussed-up body of a woman was found in Gulbahar on Tuesday. Police said that the body of Humaira Khatoon, 50, was found from her house in Firdos Colony. The victim was apparently strangulated and her hands and legs were tied. Her body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination.

Quoting the statement of her son, Owais, police said that the victim was alone at the house when the incident occurred. Gulbahar police have lodged the FIR and suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the murder.

ACCIDENT: A young motorcyclist died in a road accident in Al Falah on Tuesday. Police said that Hafizur Rehman, 20, was going on his motorcycle (KCH-8568) when a Suzuki pickup (LHO-6280) knocked him down at Jamia Millia Road. He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he died during treatment. Police claimed to have arrested the errant driver Sajid Nazeer.

WOUNDED: An activist of Mohajir Qaumi Movement was seriously injured when unknown armed men opened fire at him in Malir on Tuesday. Party sources said that Mujahid, 36, activist of Malir Unit- 97 was shot at and wounded by armed men. He was immediately taken to a private hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.

KILLED: A young man, who went missing on Monday morning, was killed by unknown persons in Malir. Police said that Maula Dad, 30, was staying at his uncle's residence in Sharafi goth. Looking for a job, the young man had left the house on Monday morning. Later, police found his body near the OGDC depot.
