HYDERABAD, Feb 22: Adviser to Sindh chief minister on health Noman Saigal has said that 35,000 applications have been received for 480 vacancies in the health department.
He was talking to journalists during his visit to Civil Hospital here on Saturday. He said that job quota for offsprings of the health department employees had been abolished and claimed that only competent individuals would be provided jobs.
Mr Saigal warned that corrupt and incompetent officials would not be tolerated in the department and would be taken to task. He added that incompetent officials should think about their future because they would be dealt with strictly for their irregularities.
He said that he was aware of an attempted criminal assault on a girl student in the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and added that he would look into the matter.
After taking a round of the hospital, its colony and hostel, he expressed displeasure over encroachments and insanitary conditions and directed medical superintendent Dr Shafqatullah Memon to improve conditions in the hospital.
He admitted that when he was regularly paying visit to the hospital, the situation was gradually improving but due to gap in his visits, the situation had worsened.
Nainitalwala: Former Sindh minister Khalil Ahmed Nainitalwala has said that Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to return to the country. He was speaking at a news conference at the press club on Sunday.
He said notwithstanding the smear campaign launched by the government against Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, the people would continue to respect and revere their national heroes.
He said billions of rupees were recovered from the people of Sindh under different heads of taxes but basic facilities had not been provided to them. He said sewerage system and roads had totally collapsed and Hyderabad city had been ruined.
