FAISALABAD: Talks between NTU students, administration inconclusive

FAISALABAD, Feb 22: The National Textile University students have threatened that they will start a fresh protest movement after the failure of talks with its administration.
Parleys between the NTU students and the administration concluded without reaching any agreement here on Sunday. The university administration had called a meeting of its BoGs in which the demands of students, including withdrawal of Aptma's role in the university affairs, reduction in fees and withdrawal of self-finance scheme, were discussed. The board refused to accept any of the demands of the students.
Later, the Joint Action Committee of the Students and academic and non-academic staff associations called an emergent meeting and held dialogues with the NTU administration. The talks, which continued for hours, ended inconclusive.
In a statement, the JAC of students has threatened that it will restart its protest movement against the administration for the acceptance of demands. The students said the matter would be presented on the floor of the National Assembly in the coming session for which a number of MNAs had assured them support.
Rana Sanaullah: The deputy opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Rana Sanaullah Khan, has said the government will not be allowed to further grill Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.
"The nuclear scientists were disgraced by the government just to please the US," he alleged in a statement here on Sunday. The PML-N leader also alleged that the government was playing the role of 'US agent.'
Lawlessness, unemployment and price-hike were increasing with every passing day, he said, blaming the government for the situation. Likewise, he said, it was disgracing the opposition leaders and campaigning against the Sharif family.
