Manual NICs invalid

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: The interior ministry announced on Saturday that the manual national identity cards had become invalid but the National Database and Registration Authority would continue to issue computerized NICs.

The computerized cards would be a prerequisite for all basic facilities, like electricity and telephone connection, bank account and passport, a press release said. Nadra had the capacity to print 100,000 cards per day, it said.

The authority clarified that it would not charge any additional amount or levy a penalty for the cards.-APP
