PESHAWAR, Feb 21: Federal Minister for Water and Power Aftab Sherpao has said that prudent policies of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali have put the country on the development track.

He expressed these views while speaking at a ceremony held here the other day during which notables of District Peshawar Arbab Munir and Arbab Latif announced joining of PPP-Sherpao.

The minister said the reforms introduced since October 1999 had resulted in the progress in all sectors, including economy.

Mr Sherpao urged all the sections of the people to help eliminate extremism and follow the true teachings of Islam which enunciated peace and tranquillity. He minister criticized the performance of the NWFP government, and claimed that none of the promises had been fulfilled by the MMA.

He said no major development project had been initiated by the MMA government in the province whereas other provinces were making active progress in all fields. The minister termed the joining of Arbab Munir and Arbab Latif in PPP-Sherpao a good omen for the politics of NWFP.-APP
