HARIPUR: Security in Haripur beefed up

HARIPUR, Feb 18: District Nazim Dr Raja Amer Zaman has said that strict security arrangements had been made by the district government for Muharram. Mr Zaman, while presiding over a meeting of the district peace committee held here on Wednesday, said that to ward off any untoward incident the Nazims of all the 44 UCs would try to create harmony among the religious sects with the help of Ulema.

District Naib Nazim Riaz Khan, DCO Jehanzeb Khan, DPO Abdullah Khan, ADPO Akbar Nasir, Ulema belonging to almost all sects, traders and journalists attended the meeting.

The Haripur DPO, while unveiling the security plan, said that police personnel had been deployed at all the 20 Imambargahs of the city, besides 28 mobiles would patrol the area and 16 pickets were set up at sensitive points.

He said that the local police force would be assisted by the FC men and military personnel if needed. The DPO said that bomb disposal squad would also remain alert.
