Govt to act against terrorists: Jam

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Feb 17: Chief Minister Jam Yousuf has said that terrorists involved in subversive acts in the province have been identified and the government will soon launch an operation against them.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr Yousuf said that at present he could not say anything about the involvement of some foreign hands, but said that mostly local people were used in the acts.

About the situation in Dera Bugti, he said that some anti- social elements were disturbing the law and order situation, but the government would not stop the development programme in the province.

Regarding the expansion of police to other districts to replace Levy staff, the chief minister said that provincial government had already introduced the police system in three districts. "We would monitor the change and that how much the federal government could provide funds to make the exercise a success," he added.

Replying to a question about Senior Minister Maulana Wasay's claim that the policing matter had been taken up with the centre as the province had some reservations, the chief minister said that Balochistan had neither any reservations nor forwarded them to Islamabad. The system would be expanded in phases, he added.
