KARACHI, Feb 16: A young man's trussed up body, with visible torture marks, was found in Defence Housing Authority area on Monday. Darakhshan police said that the victim, in his mid-30s, was wearing light-grey shalwar kameez.

His body was found stuffed in a plastic bag lying in a deserted place in the DHA's Phase-VIII locality. "The man's head was shaved off from the middle apparently to make hisidentification difficult", SHO Qaiser Ali Shah told Dawn.

He said that there were marks of torture all over the body and a rope was found tied around his neck. The police believed the body was dumped there sometime Sunday night and that they recovered it Monday afternoon. It was taken to the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

KILLED: Unknown armed men attacked a supply van and killed its security guard in an apparent robbery attempt in Pirabad on Monday. Driver of the van was injured in the attack.

Police said that the suspects intercepted the delivery van of a tobacco company. As the private security guard, Sharoz Khan, sitting besides the driver tried to resist their robbery bid, the assailants opened fire killing him instantly. The van driver, Mohammad Rafiq, sustained injuries.

Police said that the armed suspect escaped from the spot without collecting the cash. The victims were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the guard was pronounced dead and Rafiq was admitted.
