LAHORE: University sacks five exam branch officials

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Feb 16: The Punjab University on Monday dismissed from service five examination branch officials on charges of tampering with the results of seven candidates of BSc chemical engineering and technology and BEd.

An inquiry committee, headed by assistant professor Dr Mahr Saeed Akhtar, found the five officials guilty of charges of tampering with the results of BSc chemical engineering and technology, first professional second annual examination for 2000, second professional first annual examination for 2001 and BEd second annual examination for 2000.

PU registrar Masudul Haq also gave a personal hearing to the accused and then issued termination orders. The officials who were dismissed from service are senior clerk Mohammad Iqbal, junior clerks Abdul Atiq Khan, Ayub Qadir, Hafiz Abdul Qadir and Jehangir Ali.

The inquiry committee also found admin officer Lal Khan Minhas and assistant Mohammad Hanif Minhas' involvement in the case. Both the officials were, however, compulsorily retired. The vice-chancellor had constituted the inquiry committee after the irregularity was noticed by the examination branch officials.
