KARACHI: Man shot dead after brawl; suspect held

KARACHI, Feb 15: A man was shot dead in Mauripur area Sunday evening. The suspected killer was arrested. Police said that the man, Shahid Ali, 22, exchanged hot words with another man, Mohammad Taj , over a petty matter in Musharraf Colony, in the jurisdiction of the Mauripur police station.

Mohammad Taj allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot at Shahid who died instantly. The victim's body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for autopsy. Police arrested Taj and registered a case against him.

ACTIVIST: An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot dead near his residence in Gizri late Saturday night. Police said that Abdul Latif, 25, was attacked by two persons riding a motorcycle near his P&T Colony residence in the limits of Gizri police. Latif died on the spot.

The body was later taken to the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for autopsy. The victim's funeral prayer was attended by many leaders, activists and supporters besides relatives before his burial in a local graveyard on Sunday. Shops in the area remained closed to mourn the activist's death.
