KARACHI: Rapist sent to jail for life

KARACHI, Feb 13: The Additional District and Sessions Judge, East, Nadeem Akhund, on Friday sentenced a rapist to suffer life in jail. Jahangir Khan was found guilty of having abducted and raped a 13-year old girl on May 16, 2001 in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs5,000 on the convict, who would have to undergo an additional six-month term in case of default on the payment. Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court put off the hearing of two cases pertaining to collection of donations for Jehad after recording the statement of a prosecution witness.

Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of the ATC-V fixed Feb 17 for recording further evidence in the two cases after recording the statement of ASI Ghulam Shabbir. Six workers of the banned Khuddamul Islam - Farrukh Nafees, Suleman Khan, Nauman, Syed Khalid Raza, Abdus Salam and Shakirullah.- have been charged for collecting donations.
