MIRPURKHAS, Feb 13: The Scheduled Castes Federation of Pakistan has expressed concern over the plight of people whose homes were either damaged or washed away in the last year's rains.

In a statement on Thursday, SCFP leaders Surendar Valasai, Bhreulal Balani and Arjundas advocate said it was the first time in history that a genuine survey of damage and destruction was conducted with the army's help.

They said it was ironic that certain forces in Tharparkar wanted to keep people below poverty line by depriving them of the fruits of the government initiatives.

"Over seven months have passed but affected people are still waiting for so-called government help." The SCFP urged the president and prime minister to take steps and distribute relief among affected people of the desert without discrimination.

DPSC: People should submit their written complaints to the district public safety commission against police excesses so that police officials could be taken to task by adopting legal procedure. This was stated by chairperson DPSC Pir Abdul Rehman Jan Sarhandi advocate while talking to newsmen on Thursday.
