MANSEHRA, Feb 12: A man killed his 16-year-old daughter and her 17-year-old cousin on the pretext of preserving the family's honour in the limits of the Balakot police station some 45 kilometres from here late Tuesday night, police officials said.
The accused, Mohammad Ali Kohistani, presented himself to police after committing the murders. He also handed over the murder weapon to police. He recorded his confessional statement according to which he shot dead both his daughter and the boy after having found them in what he described as an objectionable condition.
It was learnt that Sikandar Khan, father of the deceased boy, also endorsed his son's murder and asked police not to register an FIR, saying he had "pardoned" the accused Mohammad Ali as he had killed them both for the sake of family honour.
Both the families, who belong to the Kohistan district, were adamant in not allowing the police to conduct post-mortem of the bodies. The bodies were later handed over to their respective relatives after postmortem at the Balakot Civil Hospital. Police have registered a case under Section 302 of the PPC and Section 13 of the Arms Ordinance and have arrested the accused Mohammad Ali.
