QUETTA, Feb 12: The police have arrested a dacoit red-handed when he was running after looting an Allied Bank branch of Tolaram Road, on Thursday. The police recovered the looted money from the dacoit while his accomplice succeeded in fleeing.
The Capital City Police Officer, Arif Ikram, told reporters at a Press Conference that the other dacoit had also been identified as Rahmatullah and would be arrested soon.
He said Rahmatullah and his nephew Mohammad Naeem entered the bank and snatched over Rs200,000 at gunpoint after overpowering the security guard, and escaped from the scene.
The bank manager, Shahid Qadri, immediately informed the police on 15 and also pressed the emergency alarm. The mobile police immediately rushed to the site and chased the dacoits and arrested Mohammad Naeem along with the looted money.
The other dacoit succeeded in escaping from the scene. The Capital City Police Officer awarded Rs3000 for each police officer and constables who arrested the dacoit along with the looted money.
ACCUSED KILLED: One person was killed on Thursday in an exchange of fire between the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and poppy growers in Tambo area of Nasirabad district of Balochistan.
According to official sources, a team of the Anti Narcotics Force Balochistan was busy in conducting an aerial survey of Tambo area to check poppy cultivation there. But some people working in a poppy field opened fire on their helicopter.
When the Anti-Narcotics Force personnel returned fire, a field worker, Jalal Khan, received the bullets. He was rushed to the civil hospital Dera Murad Jamali, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The Anti-Narcotics Force officials also arrested two people who were working in the poppy field. "The poppy was cultivated at around 50 acres of land in the area," official sources said, adding that the crop was destroyed.
