LAHORE: Allotment of flats to two workers cancelled

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Feb 12: The district labour officer on Thursday ordered ejectment of two allottees of workers' flats in Allama Iqbal Town's Khyber Block after cancellation of their allotment for non-payment of dues for a long time.

He also issued warnings to 37 other defaulters for not paying their dues for the past five months, and ordered them to pay arrears by Feb 20. Their allotments would be cancelled if they failed to clear their dues.

The Workers Welfare Board, Punjab, had built and allotted 272 flats to the workers and their widows in November, 1999. The allottees were required to pay the flat price of Rs365,000 in monthly instalments of Rs1293 in 20 years.

While most of the allottees have been paying the instalments regularly, 37 became defaulters. Some of the allottees are reported to have sold the flats.
