KARACHI, Feb 11: Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan, on Wednesday, handed over cheques each for Rs50,000 along with documents of 80sq-yard plots to 40 families being shifted under the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project.

The cheques and the documents of free of cost plots were handed over to the families at a simple ceremony held at seminar hall of Civic Centre. Addressing the area residents on the occasion, the Naib Nazim said that Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project had brought the message of prosperity for them.

After the rehabilitation, he added, they would be comfortable with the provision of all basic necessities. Earlier, the Project Director, Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, said that a tradition had been set to maintain transparency with the provision of cheques and plot documents in open kutcheries and with the assistance of their elected representatives. Mr Paracha said the shiftees had been provided with all basic amenities. UC Nazim Yasin Nagori also spoke. -APP
