LAHORE,Feb 9: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced names of four out of six members on the Advisory Council whose role chairman PCB says is confined only to making recommendations for the betterment of game in the country.

Among the four, Little Master Hanif Mohammad is the only Test cricketer while the rest Moin Afzal (former secretary finance), Syed Ali Raza (president National Bank of Pakistan) and Shamim Ahmad Khan (principal Aitchison College) are all non-cricketers.

PCB chairman Shaharyar M Khan while announcing names, said that the name of one of the remainig two members would be announced on Tuesday and the other would be from Balochsitan.

He said that had JamshedMarker,former representative of Pakistan in the United Nations been here, he would have been selected from Balochistan. Asked why only one Test cricketer was inducted in the council he replied: "First of all let me complete the council."

The council would meet representatives of cricketing bodies across the country to discuss ground realities before finalizing recommendations, he said. Shaharyar said that two more committees would be formed: one to recommend improvement in the sub-first class cricket at the school, club and university level and the other to focus on ground infrastructure available for international cricket and suggest ways for its improvement.

Referring to his recent meeting with President Pervez Musharraf, he said, he briefed the Patron in Chief on the Indian cricket team's forthcoming visit and presented a summary of PCB's short and long term plans for the revival of the game.

"The President also approved PCB's short and long term plans that were presented in outline to him. The President urged to reinvigorate our first-class programme, encourage private sector industries sponsorship, revive schools, university and club cricket and to increase the availability of grounds at the grass-roots level," said Shaharyar.
