Govt urged to place N-issue before parliament

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, Feb 9: The executive committee of the People's Party Parliamentarians, Larkana, has called upon the government to stop character assassination of nuclear scientists.

The committee at a meeting held here on Saturday adopted a resolution in this regard. It said the government should not keep the nation in the dark on sensitive matters and added that it should bring the issue of nuclear proliferation in parliament. Acting district PPP president Ayaz Soomro presided over the meeting.

PPP CRITICIZED: Shabir Ahmad Chandio has said he left the People's Party Parliamentarians and joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Q as the PPP leadership is not sincere to the cause of the party.

Speaking at a public meeting in Warah on Sunday, he claimed that sincere workers of the PPP were being humiliated. Responding to a question, Mr Chandio said he would continue to oppose what he called anti-Sindh projects like the Kalabagh dam and the greater Thal canal even after joining the PML-Q.

He said a no-confidence motion would soon be table against District Nazim Khurshid Ahmad Junejo. He said a public meeting would be held in Naudero after Muharram which would also be addressed by President Gen Pervez Musharraf. On this occasion, six Nazims and Naib Nazims and 15 councillors of PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel announced their support to Mr Chandio.
