HYDERABAD, Feb 9: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Monday directed the SHO, Tando Adam police station, to appear before the court on Feb 16 in connection with a petition.

The petition was filed by Hakim Ali, seeking the recovery of his kidnapped daughter. Mr Ali said his daughter, Wasandi, 21, was kidnapped allegedly by Laung and Ali Sher, both sons of Qadoo, with the help of Jeare, wife of Gul Mohammad, on Aug 22, 2003.

He said an FIR under section 11-1 of the Zina Ordinance was registered at the Tando Adam police station and the police challaned the accused but they were later released on bail by the additional district judge of Sanghar.

He said the whereabouts of his daughter were still not known and accused the police of taking bribe from the respondents. The petitioner said respondent Mariam and her relative Adam were also involved in the matter.

He alleged that the police were delaying the matter and were not recovering his daughter as they supported the accused. He said he believed that his daughter was in the custody of Mariam and Adam but they were not ready to produce her.

Mr Ali feared that the respondents might kill his daughter. He prayed the court to direct the Tando Adam police to recover his daughter. The supervising investigation officer of the Tando Adam police said three nominated accused had been arrested and the police had challaned them after completion of investigation of the case.

He said the petitioner had never visited his office to identify anyone in the kidnapping case. He denied that the petitioner was being harassed and prayed the court to dismiss the petition.

SINDH AAG: Sindh additional advocate general Masood A. Noorani on Monday assured the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, that the Matli police would register the FIR of a petitioner after looking into the matter.

He gave this assurance during the hearing of a constitutional petition, filed by Khuda Bux Leghari. The petitioner said he had developed a dispute withrespondents, Ghulam Mohammad, Imam Bux, deceased Dar Mohammad, Ghulam Hussain alias Muno, Sawan and others as their lands were supplied with water from the same watercourse.

He said on Oct 15, 2003, the armed accused came to his lands and said they would use another watercourse excavated by them and asked him not to interfere. He said the dispute led to an armed clash in which Dar Mohammad, belonging to the rival group, was killed and some others were injured.

Mr Leghari said respondent Ghulam Mohammad lodged an FIR at the Matli police station against him and his relatives but the police did not register his counter case against the respondents.

The petitioner said he sent an application to the DPO of Badin who forwarded it to the SHO of Matli but he did not register the case. He alleged that the SHO was in league with the respondents.
