JHANG: Six die in road accidents

JHANG, Feb 9: Six people were killed and 10 others injured in three road accidents near Chiniot and Jhang in the last 24 hours. Reports said four people, including an eight-month-old girl , were killed when the wagon they were travelling in from Pindi Bhattian to Chiniot overturned near Adda Kolian, about 15 kilometres from Chiniot.

As many as 10 people were injured in the accident and were admitted to the Chiniot Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. One of them, Nazar Hayat, was shifted to the Allied Hospital in critical condition.

In an accident near toll plaza on the Chiniot-Jhang Road, 60-year-old Muhammad Ramzan was crushed to death by a speeding car when he was strolling towards home from his farm. Abdul, who resided at Chak 214, was killed when a wagon (JGA-1652) hit him on the Jhang-Faisalabad Road.

GIRL SLAUGHTERED: A six-year-old daughter of a labourer was slaughtered by unidentified people at Kananwala village near Chenab Nagar on Sunday. Reports reaching here said two men entered Amir's house and slaughtered his daughter, Shahnaz.

Police have registered a case, but yet to ascertain motive or find any clue to the killers.

SOYEM: Soyem of the mother of Rai Riaz Husain, press secretary to the prime minister, was held at Dhuddiwala village here on Monday. Qul of Shamshad Bhatti, father of reporter Imdad Bhatti, will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at his residence at Qaim Bhawana village in Shorkot.
